Understanding Criminal Law

Understanding Criminal Law provides a broad perspective and general understanding of the legal principles on which criminal law is based. The work:

  • Examines the purpose of criminal law and its rules
  • Offers a detailed understanding of the rationale of the various offences and explores their relationship
  • Evaluates and offers criticism of the substantive criminal law and, where necessary, suggests how it should be developed
  • Incorporates all significant developments in criminal law since the last edition published including the Criminal Justice Act 2003 and the Sexual Offences Act 2003
